Pythagorean Triples

inspired by this Numberphile video
When the (integer) length is in the range of the grand piano, it will be played.

Average Absolute Differences

For alto flute and 'tape'.
The 'tape' solo is quite nice as well.

From the Onterfd Goed Collection

- Reduction of image to 60x60 pixels
- RGB colours separately translated to a range of 3 octaves for
* red = harp = left ear
* green = marimba = both ears
* blue = vibraphone = right ear
There is a accompanying video, that can be found here
Huge thank you to Onterfd Goed for letting me use one of their works.

Victory Boogie Woogie by Piet Mondriaan reduced to 60x60 pixels. Going through the pixels in a zigzag using the RGB parameters as input for pitch. Use of headphones is recommended

multidimensional knight

Inspired by David Lang, Steve Reich and Iannis Xenakis a stochastic piece that started with the knight-jump from a chess game. But then in 3D, and even 4D. And then making the translation to musical pitch.

rhino 3d

How to get from a rhino to a icosahedron!?

Despite the fact that I was down with a severe cold this week, I did manage to produce something coherent. I think.
The trail of thought went something like this:
Somehow I'm getting less and less happy with the audio - found out that background noise is picked up after all :-(

shp full battery

The speed up version is going to be used as the intro to the videos on my YouTube channel. But just as a soundscape it's pretty nice (and it doesn't suffer from the slowing down that excel exhibits..)

daughters of the dragon

for how this came to be: read the conception document here

just me

Conceptual design and score: here
Something slightly more tonal than usually :-)

brisbane bombshell (on speed)

Inspired by the World Championship Match in 1985 between Karpov - Kasparov.

happy new year

This track has video too.
All calculations were done with Excel - picture of a straight maze IN, tilted maze with pitch assigned to nodes + movement OUT.

la tour eiffel 13 11 2015

The Eiffel Tower, symbol of technological progress. It has survived 2 World Wars in the 20th century, two dark days in 2015. A sound foundation on which the intricate tower still stands. It culminates in a spire, a single line. A single frequency in this piece. I wish that we, the people, take care of our common groud, and help eachother build on one another. And ultimately come together in a single pitch.
This track has video too.

definitely intentional mandala

markov meets horta (1)

Conversion of (4 vertical lines of) a pretty pendula by Horta. Pitch is derived from (grey)colour value, duration of the notes is derived from multiple markov-chains, with 20 possible states for a quarter note.

mandala tilt 0 scientific universal pitch

Transformation of a mandala into sound, with the Universal Pitch (432 Hz) as central theme.

cds 4 and v

The Diagonal of a portret, R-value converted to pitch, G- value converted to duration, B-value converted to dynamics (this one actually includes the dynamics as well, not per note but per phrase between rests)

pylon 4 octaves 50 hz (1)

Inspired by an electricity pylon, operated at 50 Hz, converted to a width of 4 octaves, do=50 Hz
This track has video too.

cds 3

The Diagonal of a portret, R-value converted to pitch, G- value converted to duration, B-value converted to dynamics
